Risk Assessment
For health and safety reasons our group came up with a list of all the possible risks that maybe a danger to us whilst producing our music video. We also came up with some problems we may come across if all the items we need to film are not available. We created some examples of situations such as 'spillages' and then an outcome on how we would deal with the situation if it was to happen. We also considered actors not turning up and props being unavailable. We then came up with some ideas as to how we would deal with and treat the situation if it was to happen and also what we could do to avoid it. This will ensure that our filming runs smoothly and if we come across any problems they can be dealt with straight away. This allowed us to shoot as quick as possible so we could focus on spending our time editing.

Props
Disco ball- We will use a digital image of a disco ball in our music video. This will save time and allow us to focus on filming the actors and the cost of buying a real one.
Mega phone- We downloaded an image off the internet and uploaded it into photoshop. We created a layer on top of the image and drew an outline of it. We added colour to it and printed it on to A3 paper in different colours. We then stuck them onto thick cardboard and cut them out using the cutting machine from the technology room.
Women's wig- We are using a wig on the first line of the song 'I was a young girl' and later on in the video we will use short illuminous coloured wigs to add a sureal theme. We can get these from the performing arts prop cupboard and already have permission to use them.
Animal Masks- These are also being borrowed from the performing arts prop cupboard to use in our video to allow us to create a strange effect.
Green card/ paper- This will be used to create effects using the greenscreen, I will be buying it in large A3 pieces.
Fake money- We are using fake money in some lines such as 'some say it's worthless' this is being provided by Alex from home.
String- Used to levatate our cardboard TV, this is provided by college in the textiles department.
TV- We are making a cardboard TV for our music video, for this we will use a large cardboard box cut out using the cutting machine (Technology room) and stuck together using the glue gun (Textiles room)

To allow us to use the Scissor Sisters song we had to gain permission from the band/record compant. We sent them a message via myspace that i have posted here, we are yet to wait for a reply or objection.

Audience Research
Goodwin's Analysis
To help us identify whether our production has the major conventions of a music video we decided to see how it relates to Andrew Goodwin's points of analysis.
Genre characteristics- A pop music video should be catchy, fun and lively. The audience want something that they are able to dance to and enjoy. Pop music videos focus a lot on the presentation of their video focussing on costumes, dance routines and props. Mise en scene is very important and everything shown on screen represents something regarding to the song or band. Relationship between lyrics and visuals- Our aim was to create no direct relationship and use disjuncture and surrealism in our video. To do this we would use random objects and props that have no real connection but some how fit with the genre as a whole. We have also used another relationship by using an illustrative technique in the odd few lines. An example of this is 'some say it's worthless' where we will show the group playing with money. We decided that to show continuity and to help connect our lyrics to the visuals we needed some form of representative connection.
Relationship between music and visuals- As the whole pop genre is generally upbeat and lively we decided to use lots of fast jump cuts from shorts to fit with the beat and tempo of the music. This creates the relationship between the music and visuals as the audience will expect to see a change on screen every time the music changes or goes from a verse to chorus. In one section towards the end of our song there is a large instrumental therefore as a group we are going to create a dance routine to fit the style of music. There is also a bridge section where there is a fast consistent beat, for this we are using strips on our face that will flash different colors on the beat as it changes.
Need to sell artist- To help sell the artist we are using many different costumes that are surreal and stand out, this will help the audience to remember them as they are portrayed in an unusual way. As each member plays an equal role in our group we all have individual pieces where we will use close up shots to create a more personal feel to the audience and to show our individual personalities. We also use some long shots to show the group as a whole, this will show the connection between the group and allow the audience to refer to the group as a whole.
Voyeurism- We aim to make our video more enjoyable as it is fast, lively and fun to watch. We use disjuncture to make it more interesting to the audience rather than using your typical illustrative video, this was we can get across some of the themes of the music. The bright colors, fast camera movements, and transitions between shots will appeal to the audience to create the young, free and fun ideas that we are aiming for. The costumes will make us stand out from any other pop artist and help us appeal to the teenage/ young adult audience we are aiming for.
Intertextuality- Our group have used intertextuality in the use of our costumes, We were inspired by Lady Gaga's dresses which lead us to create a similar style top with large shoulders. We have also used a Madonna inspired cone top.

Conventions of a pop music video
9 Frame Analysis
I came across the music video 'Cheap and Cheerful' by The Kills, which I perticulary enjoy. The video has many features that we are hopefully going to use in our video and is a great influence. The style of the video and editing has helped us to create new ideas and a different view towards ours. To help gain an indepth view and to identify some of the main features of the video I decided to do an analysis of 9 shots from the video to study.
Shot 5- This shot shows Jamie in a military style jacket playing the drums, this fits in with the themes of the music video already created. A shot of him has been cloned 4 times to show us 4 of the same image but two with different jackets on, this is affective as it confuses the audience and makes them look twice at the artist. The drum symbolises the love for music and the close up of Alison on the screen behind shows the more emotive side.
